The meat thermometer read 50.2 this morning when I woke up. We lost power on Thursday night, December 14th, and have been "camping" ever since. Since we have a gas water heater, a gas stove, and a gas fireplace we have been able to keep the place barely warm. Now, I'm sure some of you would argue that 50.2 wouldn't qualify; but hey, it was 27 outside! I started the fireplace at about 5:30am and by 8 it had increased to 55! Balmy!
Last night was the coldest night we've had in a while so we put the girls in their REI sleeping bags and then tucked them in bed as well. When I checked them this morning they were toasty!

Soccer Starts!
Olivia is playing U7 soccer this fall and is loving every minute of it. I'm the "assistant" coach helping out when I'm not on the road. Its been alot of fun watching the little kids progress. On Thursday Olivia had a couple of great chances but couldn't quite get it passed the tangle of feet and bodies between her and the goal.

First Postings
Initially I thought my firts posting would some sort of momentous event - full of brash predictions, insightful comments and interesting data, instead I think that I'll try this blog thing for a bit and see if it takes off. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago before the cold weather hit. Olivia, Kati and I did a quick PPP (Pedal Park Picnic) where we load up the Burley trailer with snacks and I haul the girls from Woodinville to Redmond. Once at the park we lay out the goods and the girls alternate eating the snacks and playing on the structures. They run, slide, swing and climb to their little hearts content while I kick back and enjoy the moment. Audra usually stays home and enjoys a few moments of quiet. Once we're all played out (or if the clouds start to mobilize) we'll load back up into the Burley and set off back to Woodinville and the car. At this point the warmth of the sun combines with the gentle motion of trailer and usually puts one or both of them to sleep. Good times are had by all.
